This morning, I heard Trump on the radio, talking about how he would love to be in an election against "Little Michael" Bloomberg, and in a flash, I realized that Michael Bloomberg might be the only Democrat who could win the election right now.

I say that without having heard any of his advertisements.  I don't know what he's focused on.  But Trump has given him a huge advantage, one that Bloomberg could easily capitalize on:

Attention.

Here's my line of reasoning:

  1. Incumbents have a tremendous advantage because generally, the election will hinge on their performance, NOT on the opposition.  The challenger is, in a sense, existing only because of the challenged.
  2. When attention is given to one person disproportionately, good or bad, then they have an advantage over the other.
  3. Trump relies on bullying to get attention and get people to play his games.
  4. Trump's attention and focus on Bloomberg makes people see Bloomberg as important.
  5. Bloomberg can choose to ignore Trump completely.  Blank him.  He can focus on America, and the future of the government, and prosperity of the citizens.
  6. This would infuriate Trump; he'd attack Bloomberg more, trying to provoke him.
  7. Bloomberg can feed this; he can anger Trump simply by performing well.
  8. This would make Trump even more furious, and focus even more energy and time on attacking Bloomberg.
  9. Trump would continue to make more and more mistakes, eventually one that would be fatal to his campaign.
  10. It's a vicious cycle; at the end, Trump would be foaming at the mouth, and Bloomberg comes across as a smooth operator, a statesman.  As Presidential.  As President.
Whether he does this or not, the others have no chance; they've been so focused on Trump that to turn back now would be virtually impossible.  They haven't gotten Trump's wrath, either.  Regardless, the only thing for the Democrats to do now is, as Jocko Willink would say, "ignore and outperform."  Don't give Trump the advantage of their attention.  Pretend he doesn't exist.

The Sourdough Jack used to be amazing, but this was in the 1990s.  It's still good, but the bread is...well, different.  Anyone else feel like this?
